Matteo Bellotto

He graduated in voice, clarinet and musical education at the conservatories in Parma, Modena and Bologna and he specialised in Baroque music.

He has worked with some of the most well known Baroque ensembles such as Concerto Italiano (dir. Rinaldo Alessandrini), I Barocchisti (dir. Diego Fasolis), Cappella Mediterranea (dir. Leonardo García Alarcón), La Venexiana (dir. Claudio Cavina), Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri (dir. Giulio Prandi), Athestis Consort (dir. Filippo Maria Bressan), Elyma Ensemble (dir. Gabriel Garrido). He performed at some of the most important Baroque music festivals including Ambronay, Cremona, Antwerp, Bruges, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Wroclaw, Buenos Aires, and in various thatres around the world.

He played the role of Pluto in Monteverdi's Orfeo at the Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music (London), the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, in Regensburg (Germany), Melk (Austria), Adelaide (Australia), Hong Kong, Shangai, Beijing. He sang as Pastore (Orfeo) in Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo. He also took part to Monteverdi's Orfeo at the Teatro La Scala (Milan), the Oslo Opera Theatre and in Seattle (USA). He sang as Seneca in Monteverdi's L’incoronazione di Poppea at the Herne Hill Music Festival and at the Cité de la musique (Paris).

He performed in various operas such as Pasquini’s La forza d’amore (Treia), Brescianello's La Tisbe (Stuttgart), Caccini's Euridice (Innsbruck), Zamponi’s Ulisse all'isola di Circe (Liège), Falvetti's Il diluvio universale (Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Brussels, Paris, Wien, Amsterdam, Metz).

He recorded oratorios, operas, madrigals and sacred music of Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Stradella, Colonna, Falvetti, Pasquini, Corbetta, Schutz, Brunelli, Strozzi for Naïve, Glossa, Symphonia, Tactus, Brilliant Classics labels. With the Radio Svizzera Italiana choir and orchestra, he recorded Vespers (Cossoni), Agnese (Paèr), Ercole amante (Cavalli), Orgelbüchlein (J.S. Bach), Missa Romana (Pergolesi). His other recordings include also Bach's Lutheran Masses under the baton of Gustav Leonhardt; and Monteverdi's Selva morale e spirituale with Gabriel Garrido.

He is also active on the field of contemporary music. He has sung in Gavin Bryars's works with the Swiss Ensemble Vox Altera, in Les Noces (Stravinsky), Passio Christi (Giancarlo Facchinetti), A-Ronne (Berio), Mr. Me (Luca Mosca), Il Processo continua (F. Hoch) and Gesualdo Considered as a Murderer (Luca Francesconi).
