Marcin Liweń

Countertenor Marcin Liweń has a Bachelors Degree from the Paderewski Music Academy in Poznań. In 2012, he completed his Masters Degree at the Vocal Department of the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He perfected his skills through masterclasses with Ala Simoni, Paul Esswood, Michael Chance, Artur Stefanowicz and Marek Rzepka. Marcin Liweń has also a Masters Degree in biotechnology from the Warmia-Mazury University in Olsztyn. The artist performs as soloist and chamber singer with an oratorical-cantata repertoire dating back to the Renaissance and Baroque periods. He performed at most important early music festivals in Poland, inter alia Misteria Paschalia, Opera Rara, Vratislavia Cantans or the Festival of Early Music in Nowy Sącz, as well as festivals in Austria, Germany, France and Spain. He worked with conductors including Vincent Dumestre, Giovanni Antonini, Paul McCreesh, Marcin Szelest and Jan Tomasz Adamus.

In July 2014, he recorded works of Mikołaj Zieleński from the ‘Offertoria et Communiones totius anni’ together with the La Tempesta orchestra. In May 2013 he recorded a record entitled: Versimilitued of Christian life. 16th century Polish music (Podobieństwo żywota krześcijańskiego. XVI-wieczna muzyka polska), together with the Sabionetta orchestra.
