Emmanuel Vistorky

Emmanuel Vistorky was born in the small town of Épinal in the Vosges. Cradled by the beautiful images of his home town, as a child, he dreamt of becoming a cosmonaut or a designer.

In 1980, when he was just nine years old, he made a life-changing decision. Mocked in his football club for his oversized sneakers which prevented him from being a good player, he pushed the door of the neighboring building to take refuge there. This is how he first got to hear Les Petits chanteurs à la croix de Lorraine at a choir rehearsal. A true shock. He never returned to the football field but remained in the choir for 10 years. He discovered a universe which would leave him fascinated all his life. Then he went to a music school in Épinal, graduated with a master’s degree at the Maîtrise de Notre-Dame de Paris and the Paris Academie to complete his training. He met great people who passed him their knowledge about the art of polyphony. The first roles came, then the first recordings, first festivals, and this has been going on for thirty years now. Today, Emmanuel Vistorky also resumed his footballing activity, but just on vacation, with his son, to whom he gave sneakers that were a little too big…
