WINDS DAYS! LECTURE: 1450–1650: THE WIND CONSORTS
RENAISSANCE DAY
The lecture presents the foundations of consort practice through the testimonies of treatises and instruments currently preserved in museums. Often conceived as a single instrument, the consort (or instruments family) is a central element in understanding and performing Renaissance music, giving it the aesthetic sound with which it was conceived.
