Camilo Delgado Díaz
The Colombian tenor Camilo Delgado Díaz obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in singing from the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien (2012-2018, class of Claudia Visca), and his Master of Music in Opera degree from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (October 2018-2020, class of the Professor and singer Kai Wessel). In his early years he was the winner of the 2nd Prize at the 2011 National Singing Competition of Colombia, Special Prize of the jury for the youngest outstanding performer at the 2013 Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach (Austria). Winner of the Scholarship “for Colombian people abroad in education of arts” of the Ministry of Culture of Colombia. Finalist at the 5th Pietro Antonio Cesti International Competition in Innsbruck. In 2017 he participated in an exchange program at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia (class of the tenor Claudio di Segni).
Camilo Delgado Díaz is a highly skilled stage performer embracing both classical and baroque repertoire. His versatile voice, outstanding musicianship, and impressive stage presence allow him to execute a wide range of repertoire from George Frideric Handel and W.A. Mozart, to the music of contemporary composers.
In 2020, Camilo Delgado Díaz was chosen for the “Junges Ensemble” season 2020-2021 at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen, as well as next year for the following season (2021-2022). During his last year of master studies in baroque singing he had the opportunity to perform G.F. Handel’s opera Alcina under the direction of Maestro Andrea Marcon and the Venice Baroque Orchestra in the Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza as the winner of the “Voci Olimpiche” Competition.
Amongst Camilo Delgado Díaz greatest concert and opera performance achievements appear Octavia by Reinhard Keiser for the Alte Woche der Musik Festival 2017 under the direction of Jörg Halubek in Innsbruck, Austria, Orfeo by Monteverdi under Werner Ehrhardt in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, Vespro della beata Vergine by Monteverdi under Nicol Matt in Tübingen, Germany or Castor and Pollux at the Festival Heidelberger Frühling in Germany. He also presented his talent in modern pieces including two world premieres: Electric Dreams by Matthew Shlomowitz at the Steirischer Herbst Festival in 2017 and Innocence by Kaija Saariaho at the Festival d’Aix en Provence in 2021.
Camilo Delgado Díaz has performed in many famous concert halls and theaters such as Wiener Konzerthaus, Schloss Schönbrunn Theater, Grand Théâtre de la Provence, Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen, Teatro Julio Mario Santodomingo and Teatro Jorge Eliecer Gaitan.
