Swiss tenor, conductor, producer and director of the Festival de Froville, who made his debut more than 25 years ago with performances led by Michel Corboz and Gabriel Garrido in Geneva and Lausanne. Since then, he has worked with numerous renowned conductors, including Raphaël Pichon, Christophe Rousset, René Jacobs, Ottavio Dantone and Andrea Marcon. An acclaimed interpreter of the Evangelists’ part in Bach’s Passions and the title roles in Rameau’s Platée and Dardanus, he is also a recognised virtuoso in baritone roles in Vivaldi’s and Handel’s pieces (Farnace, Il Giustino, Ariodante and Bajazet). He has been a regular performer at the Staatsoper in Berlin and Munich, at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, and at opera houses in Strasbourg (Opéra du Rhin), Lausanne, Lille, Amsterdam and the Opéra de Paris.

Emiliano Gonzalez Toro is an acclaimed performer of Monteverdi’s music, who sang the title role in L’Orfeo (with Ottavio Dantone and Ryo Terakado); performed the parts of Arnalta in L’incoronazione di Poppea (with Emmanuelle Haïm, Christophe Rousset, Ottavio Dantone and Raphaël Pichon); Eurimac (with Emmanuelle Haïm) and the title role (with Ryo Terakado) in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria. He has also performed as soloist in Vespro della Beata Vergine with René Jacobs, Christina Pluhar and Raphaël Pichon.

To share the joy of Seicento music, in 2019 Emiliano Gonzalez Toro founded the I Gemelli ensemble with Mathilde Etienne, which made its debut with a performance of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées (with Emiliano singing the title role), followed by productions of Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria and L’incoronazione di Poppea. I Gemelli performed at the Capitole de Toulouse, the Metz Arsenal, the Teatro Real in Madrid and at opera houses in Tours, Nantes, Bordeaux and the Ambronay Festival, among others. The ensemble’s albums, which have won numerous prestigious accolades, attest to their success both among critics and in the music community.

Last season was one of the richest and most varied of Emilian Gonzalez Toro’s career. He sang the role of Ruggiero in Caccini’s La liberazione di Ruggiero da l’isola d’Alcina and Ramón Fernandez in Voyage d’automne (a world premiere of a work by Bruno Mantovani with a libretto by Dorian Astor). The tour with the title role in Mozart’s Idomeneo led by René Jacobs, had its stops in Madrid, Barcelona, Fribourg, Antwerp and Hamburg. An album featuring Monteverdi’s Vespro was released by Gemelli Factory in February 2025. In connection with this event, the ensemble toured some of Europe’s most beautiful concert halls, such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona and the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.
