Lucas Peres
Born in Brazil, Lucas first studied the viola da gamba with Eunice Moreira Brandão. He then studied with Marianne Muller at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique (CNSM) in Lyon, where he graduated in 2000. He is also a holder of chamber music diploma from the Paris CNSM. In addition to playing the viola da gamba, Peres researches the lirone, a 17th-century Italian instrument used for vocal accompaniment that is rarely played nowadays.
Lucas often performs with Le Poème Harmonique, directed by Vincent Dumestre, as an instrumentalist and musical editor in productions such as Armide (Lully), Anamorfosi, Monteverdi Testamento, and Dido and Aeneas (Purcell). Peres also performs with Il Caravaggio (Camille Delaforge), Scherzi Musicali (Nicolas Achten), Consonance (François Bazola), and others.
He teaches viola da gamba and lirone at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional in Tours, France.
Lucas recently published a method for the lirone.
