In the 2025/2026 season, South African tenor Lunga Eric hallam looks forward to his debut with the Hamburgische Staatsoper as Ein Jungling (Paradies und Peri), a return as Count Almaviva to the Opera San Antonio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), and a debut at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées as Pedrillo (Die Entführung aus dem Serail). Equally in demand for concert repertoire, Lunga will perform Bach’s Mass in B Minor with the Atlanta Symphony and Mozart’s Requiem with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Lunga began his career in Cape Town, where he studied at the University of Cape Town College of Music and was in the Young Artist Programme at Cape Town Opera. Since then, he has built an international career and works with conductors including Nathalie Stutzmann and Emmanuelle Haïm.

Recent highlights in his career include Mozart’s Mass in C major with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Handel’s Messiah with Masaaki Suzuki and the National Symphony Orchestra, as well as a Baroque programme with Emmanuelle Haïm and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He also recently debuted Schubert’s Mass No. 5 in A flat major with the São Paulo Symphony and gave a recital with Craig Terry at the Kennedy Center in Washington for Vocal Arts DC. On the stage, 2024 saw Lunga’s debut at the Minnesota Opera in the role of Count Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
