Slovak bass-baritone Tomáš Šelc is an internationally established artist whose artistic profile extends with exceptional versatility across the operatic stage, the concert platform, and the world of historically informed performance. His unique velvety voice and profound understanding of style and text make him a sought-after performer on both domestic and international stages.

In 2020, for his extraordinary artistry and contribution to Slovak culture, he was awarded the prestigious Frico Kafenda Award. This achievement crowned his previous victories at numerous national and international competitions, where he has won a total of eight first prizes and a wealth of special jury awards. 

On the operatic stages of the Theater an der Wien, Opéra Royal de Versailles, National Theatre in Prague, Slovak National Theatre, National Theatre Brno, and the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, he has portrayed a wide range of roles. 

His extensive concert activity as a soloist has led him to the world’s most distinguished stages and international festivals, such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany, the Prague Spring and the Easter Festival of Sacred Music in the Czech Republic, Wratislavia Cantans and the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in Poland, the Festival de Santander in Spain, the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht in the Netherlands, the Festival de La Chaise-Dieu in France, as well as the overseas Johannesburg International Mozart Festival. He is also a regular guest at domestic events, including the Bratislava Music Festival. 

His deep interest in historically informed performance has led him to collaborate with and become a member of the world’s most prestigious early music ensembles. He performs regularly with groups such as Collegium Vocale Gent (led by Philippe Herreweghe), Collegium 1704 (Václav Luks), the Taverner Consort (Andrew Parrott), Clemencic Consort (René Clemencic), Cappella Mariana (Vojtěch Semerád), Collegium Marianum (Jana Semerádová), and Ensemble Inégal (Adam Viktora). 

Tomáš Šelc has made numerous recordings for renowned labels such as Hänssler Classic, Accent, Phaedra, label Château de Versailles Spectacles, Supraphon, Nibiru, Pavian Records, Hudobné centrum, and tsARTmusic. These recordings chart his wide-ranging repertoire, from art song to major oratorio works.
