Gli Incogniti
Gli Incogniti was founded in 2006 by the violinist Amandine Beyer. It is named after the Accademia degli Incogniti, an artistic and academic circle that was amongst the most active and libertarian of 17th-century Venice.
Gli Incogniti are specialists in the field of baroque instrumental repertoire but they also explore the classical repertoire. The ensemble regularly performs in major venues in France and abroad, such as Philharmonie de Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Auditorium de Radio France, Wigmore Hall, Oji Hall in Tokyo, Philharmonie du Luxembourg, BOZAR in Brussels and Philharmonie Essen. It also performs on the stages of major festivals, among others Boston Festival, Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo, MA Festival Brugge, International Bergen Festival, Festival de Torroella, and festivals of Saintes, Saint-Denis and Montpellier.
Gli Incogniti collaborate with numerous outstanding musicians including Giuliano Carmignola, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Andreas Staier, Maria Cristina Kiehr, Alexeï Lubimov, Hans-Jörg Mammel, as well as Rosas, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker’s dance company and the group of traditional singers La Manufacture verbale.
Gli Incogniti exclusively records for Harmonia Mundi. Group’s discography includes works by Vivaldi, Pachelbel, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Haydn and their albums have been unanimously praised by press and the audience.
Strongly attached to the idea of transmission of their experience to younger generations, since 2017, Gli Incogniti has held a chamber music and bodywork academy for young baroque ensembles, students or newly professional.
Gli Incogniti receives the support of the DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine, of the Region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and of the Department of Gironde. It is regularly sponsored by Adami, Spedidam and CNM Export for its performance and recording activities, and by the Caisse des Dépôts for its Academy.
