Holder of a degree in musicology, a master’s degree at the Centre for Advanced Renaissance Studies in Tours with Jean-Pierre Ouvrard, a saxophone graduation certificate, a first prize in the singing class of Alain Buet, he now works with Sophie Toussaint.

Hugues Primard, tenor, works with several ensembles, including Doulce Mémoire, Clément Janequin, Les Traversées Baroques, Le Poème Harmonique, Diabolus in Musica, La Péniche Opéra, Les sacqueboutiers of Toulouse, Céladon and Beatus. He has worked with the Royal Chapel at the Palace of Versailles, the RIAS Kammerchor, Les Talens Lyriques, Huelgas Ensemble, Accentus choir, Les Jeunes Solistes, Les Éléments, Ensemble Jacques Moderne, Chœur de chambre de Namur, Akadémia, Les Musiciens du Paradis, Ensemble Elyma, Ludus Modalis, among others, with whom he has toured in various performances and operas, including Anfiparnasso by Vecchi and Gianni Schicchi by Puccini (directed by L. Serrano), La dive bouteille and L’Honnête Courtisane with Doulce Mémoire (directed by P. Vallepin), the Baroque Carnival with Le Poème Harmonique (directed by C. Roussat and J. Lubek), La Pellegrina with the Baroque Crossings (directed by A. Linos), Armide by Lully (directed by M. Meiser and P. Caurier, musical direction P. Herreweghe), Perelà, Uomo di fumo by Pierre Dusapin (directed by P. Mussbach, musical director J. Colon).

 

He has also participated in sixty recordings, recently in Music in San Marco di Venezia with the Baroque Crossings for Accent K617 and Jacques Arcadelt’s French Music Songs with Doulce Mémoire for Ricercar.

 

The collaboration with different formations allows Hugues Primard to take on different repertoires, from medieval to contemporary, from the roles of the Evangelist, to Renaissance farces and circus plays.
